Goodbye, Minnesota and your wind gusts..
The Interceptor is coated with bug guts. To clean them completely I'll need to strip of the body panels. I'm at least a few thousand miles overdue for an oil change anyway.
The innkeeper warns me that the cops are a plenty on I-94, so despite my instinct I keep it within reason, even though I only see one trooper all day.
The new rear tire we put on right before the trip is on its last tread. I really need to find a good tire that lasts more than 5,000 miles (one that grips anyway). The cords are close to showing and I'm thinking some rain might be good after all. I suppose it's another reason not to rip it up today. Surprisingly the front tire is still good. Better than the 'two rears to one front' rule of thumb.
Apparently, I didn't notice Gumby in passing as he was returning from visit up north!
I jump of of 94 to avoid further construction traffic, and to skirt any rain. It's a nice ride on the back roads home. Utah it ain't, but it's nice to be back in my home state.
328 miles ends in Kenosha, Wisconsin to a nice homecoming.
While the girls go back to their homework, I take the 1098 out for a spin. Just to run the engine after sitting for a few weeks. The Interceptor might be "old reliable" but the Duc is crazy fast. It's funny how a few weeks can make you forget things.
Time to rest my bruised (but not battered) body for now. Working the numbers for final stats in a few days.
