2012 - Day 3: Grossglockner High Alpine Road to Lienz, Austria

The day starts out okay, but as we get closer the mountains the worse the weather turns. There is a reason these pictures are so dark and gloomy:
Grossglockner High Alpine Road: I've done all this before:

Gusty, cold (4C) winds
Hard rain
Tight, mountain twisties
Fast pace
Visibility is limited to the taillight in front of me.

Now add all of those together at once, and its quite the challenge. A lot of these guys ride faster in the rain than I do in the dry! This part of the day was probably the worst conditions that I have ever ridden in. I wonder what tomorrow brings?

First we fly, then we ride:
It's not easy packing riding gear and everything else, while keeping under the baggage weight limit. (Even without a cat).
How many countries can I hit this year?

Fourteen days, thirteen nights and 10 states. (Total days away from home, not just riding days)
346 miles/day
44.5 MPG
Two more states added to my touring list for a total for 38 states (If my memory is right).

Tire wear is fair, better than expected. Although, the front seems to be going a bit faster than the rear. Curious.
