• The day starts out okay, but as we get closer the mountains the worse the weather turns. There is a reason these pictures are so dark and gloomy:
  
• Grossglockner High Alpine Road: I've done all this before:

• Gusty, cold (4C) winds
• Hard rain
• Tight, mountain twisties
• Fast pace
• Visibility is limited to the taillight in front of me.

• Now add all of those together at once, and its quite the challenge. A lot of these guys ride faster in the rain than I do in the dry! This part of the day was probably the worst conditions that I have ever ridden in. I wonder what tomorrow brings?

• It's not easy packing riding gear and everything else, while keeping under the baggage weight limit. (Even without a cat).

• An interrupted journey, by the numbers:

• 3,466 miles.
• Fourteen days, thirteen nights and 10 states. (Total days away from home, not just riding days)
• 346 miles/day
• 44.5 MPG
• Two more states added to my touring list for a total for 38 states (If my memory is right).

• Morning is a cool 62 degrees and sunny.
• Tire wear is fair, better than expected. Although, the front seems to be going a bit faster than the rear. Curious.
